08/03/07 FireSign Inc. Announces Version 3.2 Update FireSign 3.2 is a compact release, sporting two new features and several bug fixes. There may only be two new features, but they are big ones, and more importantly, they address two of our most frequent customer requests!
New Feature: Automatic Software Updates for Players
No more walking (or driving) around to visit every FireSign Player to perform software updates! This is the last time you will need to manually update Player software.
After you have installed the FireSign 3.2 Update and updated the software on your Players, all future Player software updates will happen automatically. You can set the day and time that you want Players to look for software updates in the Player Detail screen in FireSign Studio.
New Feature: Serial Device Control for Player Displays
Most industrial displays have the ability to be controlled over a serial port. Now FireSign 3.2 Players are able to communicate over the serial port with their attached display monitor.
This feature can be used to turn FireSign Player monitors on or off at specific times. You can even tell a monitor to switch video inputs, assuming the monitor itself has that capability. All of these operations are set using the standard scheduling functions in FireSign Studio.
Note: Every monitor is different. Some may have serial control capability while others may not. Custom serial cables are required. Please contact us to discuss your situation to see how you can take advantage of this new feature.
Getting the FireSign 3.2 Update
FireSign stand-alone customers with current update subscriptions will receive this update via an enclosed CD-ROM. If we are hosting your FireSign system, you will receive this update automatically. We will contact you with any necessary additional information.
At FireSign, we continuously strive to improve our software and offer new features that communicate your message while minimizing the time impact on your staff. If you’re a current Update Subscriber, then enjoy the new features that come with your Update Subscription.
But if you haven’t signed up for an Update Subscription, or have let your subscription lapse, seriously consider investing in a subscription soon. You’ve made a substantial investment integrating a digital signage system into your business, so maintain your software with the latest updates and upgrades the same way you would maintain any piece of machinery or capital investment.
Customers who do not have an update subscription can purchase the FireSign 3.2 update for $995, which includes a 12-month update subscription. Please call toll free 866.548.8778 for details.
Remember, if you have feedback you would like to submit to us regarding FireSign, please let us know. We don’t just provide digital signage software and content, we provide solutions for your needs!
We are confident these enhancements to FireSign 3.2 will continue our commitment to making FireSign the best digital signage software available.
03/15/07 FireSign Inc. Technology
Ignited at Nashville International Airport Beginning today, and just in time for the deluge of spring break travelers, passengers at Nashville International Airport (BNA) will be provided with yet another element of premier customer service.
In the interest of facilitating passengers swiftly through security checkpoints in a safe, convenient and timely manner, the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) has chosen Nashville based FireSign Inc., to provide digital signage software that powers BNA’s new security-related digital signs.
The quartet of digital signage displays, with two located at the entrance of both the “A/B” and “C/D” security checkpoints, are designed to inform passengers with up-to-the-minute Transportation Security Administration (TSA) messaging regarding permitted items, and other security information. The system will give MNAA the rapid capability to run important and informational messaging on one specific, or all digital signage displays on the FireSign network. Advanced message scheduling is also an invaluable feature, enabling MNAA to plan messaging around known traffic peaks.
“
We’ve been installing FireSign systems in public spaces to help move people through
facilities for several years. Our software is installed at the Frist Center for
the Visual Arts here in Nashville as well as at Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia,” noted
Chris Lee, president of FireSign. "Helping alleviate issues related to congestion
in lines is a natural fit for our product. With BNA’s terminal renovation in
full swing, it’s an exciting time for the airport, and we’re proud to be part
of it.”
“We are pleased to be able to bring pertinent and security related just-in-time messaging to Music City’s airport,” said Raul Regalado, President & CEO of the MNAA. FireSign technology is yet another dynamic avenue in which we can communicate our brand, reflecting customer focus and professionalism, to our most important assets, our customers and employees.
FireSign products and services include software, hosting, network management, installation consultation, training and content development. FireSign® digital signage software is being used nationwide in corporations, museums and non-profit organizations. For more information on FireSign Inc., visit www.firesign.net, email sales@firesign.net, or call 866-548-8778 toll- free.
The MNAA was established in 1970 and owns and operates the Nashville International Airport and John C. Tune General Aviation Airport. Click

12/01/06 FireSign 3.1 Update Release You are already familiar with FireSign’s capabilities. Now consider what FireSign 3.1 can do for you.
A new main menu screen visually represents the Studio workflow process.
Now it is easier to:
• access key functions faster through a new layout;
• access frequently used controls at the top of the page to minimize scrolling;
• use “bread crumb trail” navigation links instead of the function buttons from previous versions;
• use simplified table listings on most screens;
• use a simple search box instead of the filter bar from previous versions.
In addition, we have:
• added the new functions “Duplicate” and “Append” Segments for easier content creation. This makes it easier to merge the scenes from two segments;
• created the new functions “Import” and “Export” Segments for portability and content exchange;
made it possible to copy segments between projects as well as move media groups and items between projects and libraries.
To make scheduling even easier, we added a new calendar-based schedule screen that graphically represents your playback parameters.
You’ll note other enhancements with FireSign 3.1, such as:
• Player refresh intervals can now be set to occur within the timeframe you specify for better network traffic management;
• The Player Installation function has been moved from Server to Studio. This saves administrators valuable time;
• At the log-in screen we have added a log-in button for users to request that their password be emailed to them.
FireSign stand-alone customers with current update subscriptions will receive this update via an enclosed CD-ROM. If we are hosting your FireSign system, you will receive this update automatically. We will contact you with any necessary additional information.
Customers who do not have an update subscription can purchase the FireSign 3.1 update for $995, which includes a 12-month update subscription. Please call toll free 866.548.8778 for details.
We are confident these enhancements to FireSign 3.1 will continue our commitment to making FireSign the best digital signage software available. As always, thank you for using FireSign.
